You qualify for the SuRIA Home rebate if you are a Malaysian citizen who is an individual TNB customer on the Domestic Tariff, you commission a rooftop Solar ATAP system with TNB by 31 December 2026, and you have not previously received a cash rebate under the SolaRIS programme. Only one rebate is allowed per customer.
These eligibility conditions follow the scheme as announced by PETRA and reported across Malaysian media, including The Sun, which noted that implementation began on 1 June 2026 with one claim per eligible individual.
The core eligibility criteria
- Malaysian citizen — the rebate is for individual citizens, not companies or non-citizens.
- Individual Domestic Tariff customer — your TNB account must be a residential domestic account in your own name.
- Solar ATAP installation — your rooftop solar system must be installed and commissioned with TNB under the Solar ATAP scheme by 31 December 2026.
- No prior SolaRIS rebate — you must not have already received a cash rebate under the earlier SolaRIS programme.
- One per customer — each eligible individual may claim only once.
How much you can receive
Eligible homeowners receive RM600 for every 1 kWac of declared installed capacity, up to a maximum of RM3,000. A system of around 5 kWac qualifies for the full amount, while smaller systems receive a proportionate rebate. The Edge Malaysia reported that the programme, backed by a RM150 million allocation, is expected to benefit tens of thousands of homes.
Who pays and when
The rebate is administered and paid by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). After your system is commissioned and verified, TNB pays the rebate directly into your own local bank account, typically within seven working days of verification. SuRIA Home installs your system and guides you through the steps — it does not pay or claim the rebate on your behalf. Always confirm the latest criteria on the official SEDA Malaysia and myTNB pages, as the rebate is subject to Government terms and is not guaranteed.
If you are unsure whether your situation fits these conditions — for example, if the TNB account is held under a different name, or you are not certain about a past SolaRIS claim — it is best to clarify before installation rather than after. Sorting out the account holder details and confirming your citizenship and tariff status up front avoids surprises when TNB verifies the claim. Because the rebate is also first-come, first-served and capped by the RM150 million allocation, meeting the criteria early gives you the best chance of receiving the rebate before funds run out.
